Bentleigh Team 1
Nerves were buzzing with the first finals game for the Ones in quite a few seasons. With a fully fit squad and great netball conditions we knew we had a great chance to pull off a win. The game was extremely close with the 1st and 3rd quarter scores square. Going into the last quarter 2 goals down it was a mental battle, our girls went out hard and ran over the top of Heatherton! Courageous win with each player doing their job to get the results. Exciting times ahead!
Bentleigh Team 2
The Twos were very excited going to into last week’s prelim final. The team had been competitive all year, rightfully deserving a place in the top 4. Cassie and Darcee coming away with many intercepts, assisted by Simone and Hannah creating turnovers in the mid leaving the first quarter ahead of Parkdale. Going into the second half we were only just behind, with Tahlia, Rachel and Hannah working hard to get their goals up, our midcourters Jami and Meag still putting pressure down the court and feeding well into the ring. Our captain Emily was controlling the ball down the court as centre and passing cleanly into our shooters. After a few injuries from both teams in the last quarter, we finished down by 2. A close and competitive game that unfortunately didn’t go our way. Well done on this season Bentleigh twos, it was a privilege to watch you all play every week and see all your work and skill rewarded by staying in the top four the entire season! Congratulations on being a part of our netball clubs final success.
Bentleigh Team 5
Congratulations to the Fives on their journey this season ending it in a final! What a team, what an achievement!! In the first quarter the Fives came out strong against Hallam closing the quarter only down by a goal. Going into the second quarter we held steady and dug in and really showed Hallam we had more to give closing the first half keeping it a goal the difference. Unfortunately, in the second half Hallam got a jump on us and we just could not make up the difference. Congratulations to everyone in the team for all your hard work on Saturday and throughout the season. Each and everyone one of you played a role in leading us to finals. The commitment to push through absence, injury and a last minute schedule change was truly commendable. It has been a privilege to be your coach this season.
